Landscaping Committee Report

Members: Joanna Hartis, Erick Langer, and Ed Nolin

The Landscaping Committee recently finished a final walk through of the Colecroft neighborhood to determine planting needs. Recommendations were given to the HOA Board of Directors which were recently reviewed and approved.

The first phase of the work was completed the week of November 1 and one can see several areas of improvement. The corner at N. West and Oronoco Streets was planted with perennials, as was the “Colecroft Court” entrance sign. The electric/utility boxes behind 502 N. West Street have been screened from view with evergreens; those behind 540 Colecroft with tall grasses. Two cherry trees were planted along the linear Metro pathway which will provide spring time blossoms and summer time shade. Several holly and boxwood shrubs replaced dead or dying shrubs throughout the area. A wall of evergreens and grasses was planted along the fence line at the end of the parking area between 1533 Oronoco Street and 542 Colecroft Court. A dogwood was planted to match the other in the courtyard at N. West Street. With some cooperation from “Mother Nature” and good vibes from the residents, our property should look great next spring!
